With all systems in place for Golden Jaguar Trayon Bobb to make his debut next month at club Sociedade Uniõa 1° de Dezemáro, owned by Guyanese football icon, Alex Bunbury (Principal and Director of Football), who recently purchased the Portuguese Third Division Club, a fund raising double header has been fixed for Sunday at the Leonora Track and Field Ground.
Four West Demerara teams will be battling including Bobb’s current club, Uitvlugt Warriors in this specially arranged activity put together as a means of assisting the young footballer to garner the needed funds for his airfare and the requisite fees to obtain his Schengen Visa.
The talented and skillful Bobb, whose nimbleness in midfield and ability to use both feet up front has caught many an eye, will become the first Guyanese player to play in Portugal, another young Guyanese duo in Jeremy Garrett and Shemika Marcus were afforded tryouts at the world famous Sporting Lisbon of Portugal under two years ago.
Bobb, who will spearhead Uitvlugt’s challenge on Sunday has been on Bunbury’s radar ever since and is now getting the opportunity to fulfill his lifetime dream of playing on the European circuit.
Uitvlugt Warriors will battle old rivals Den Amstel in Sunday’s feature match at 15:00hrs with the opening match up at 13:00hrs bringing together Pouderoyen and Eagles, a Stewartville based club.
Both matches promise to be entertaining with the rivaling teams preparing to go at each other to add another win to their respective and continuing rivalry. Persons wishing to make a contribution to Trayon Bobb can also do so on a special Go Fund Me page that has been set up on facebook.
Bobb is expected to leave mid next month to commence playing.
