Half centuries by Saheed Mohamed and Sahadeo Hardaiow coupled by disciplined bowling performances from Ronald Jaisingh and Basil Persaud led host Everest Cricket Club Select XI to a 148-run victory over Central All stars of Trinidad and Tobago in a 25-over fixture Saturday.
Batting first, the host lost Tagenarine Chanderpaul without scoring before Hardaiow and Hemraj Garbarran added 84 for the second wicket with enterprising batting in difficult conditions. Garbarran struck two fours and one six before he was dismissed for 27; however Hardaiow and Bhaskar Yadram continued to frustrate the visitors with a stand of 112. Yadram slammed one four and two sixes in scoring 34, while Hardaiow who timed the ball well and hit four fours and three sixes before he departed for 54. Kamesh Yadram and Saheed Mohamed hardly put a foot wrong as they continued the onslaught; Mohamed wasn’t afraid to play his shots and clobbered one four and five sixes in a top score of 57 while Yadram made 42 with two fours. Kevin Chattergoon picked up two wickets, while there was one each for Ravi Mahase and Govin Doorgha.
Jaisingh and Persaud then led Everest bowling as Central All stars were sent packing for 88 in 22 overs in reply. Dillan Sital and Chattergoon added some respectability down the order with a nine-wicket stand of 30. Sital made 21 and Chatergoon 16 while Karrel Bissoon made 15. Jaisingh claimed 3-11 from five overs to take the man-of-the-match award and Persaud had 2-7 from two overs. Everest Cricket Club presented a plaque to the visiting team following the contest. The game was sponsored by Trophy Stall of Bourda Market.
