The ExxonMobil under-14 boys’ and girls’ schools’ football tournament continued at the Ministry of Education (MOE) schools’ Sports Complex ground on CARIFESTA Avenue yesterday with 12 scheduled games. Out of all the matches, Dolphin Secondary emerged the most dominant after a commanding 4-1 victory over Queenstown.
The Broad Street unit had four different players etch their name on the score sheet during the 40-minute encounter with their Queenstown rivals. Ian Ward opened the scoring in the 13th minute and Ronaldo Forde doubled the lead in the 16th minute which the eventual winners were content with at the end of the first half.
On play’s resumption, goalkeeper Selwyn Jones came to his opposing box to rifle home a penalty kick in the 27th minute to take his team’s tally to 3-0 before Mickle Leitch closed off the scoring with a 32nd minute strike which found its way to the back of Queenstown net.
Another highlight of the day saw Friendship Secondary edging Tucville 4-3, while South Ruimveldt were the only team to win by walkover as Bishops’ High School team were a no-show for their 14:00hrs game.
