Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman on Monday dismissed a matter against a woman who was charged with damaging another woman’s windshield during an altercation.
It is alleged that Odessa Newton, on February 4 last, at South Ruimveldt Park, unlawfully and maliciously damaged the rear windshield of a car belonging to Natasha Albert. The cost of the damage was estimated at $136,800. Newton had denied the allegation and was placed on $20,000 bail.
According to information, on the day in question Newton and Albert had a misunderstanding which resulted in an exchange of blows and the windscreen being damaged.
On Monday when the matter was called in Magistrate Latchman’s courtroom, the victim told the court that she no longer wished to proceed with the matter, hence it was dismissed due to no evidence being offered.
