Exciting golfing is expected this weekend as the 6th Annual El Dorado Golf Tournament gets underway from 12:30hrs at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) tomorrow. El Dorado Rum, a brand of Demerara Distilleries Ltd, DDL, began sponsoring tournaments distinctly under the El Dorado Brand from 2011. DDL had been sponsoring golf tournaments for some twenty (20) years to date.
Current El Dorado Rum Brand Manager, Maria Munro, at a brief press conference on Monday 4th June 2018, noted that DDL and EL Dorado over the years have been supportive of many Sports in Guyana, and the Company commits to continue in this vein as they see Sports as a healthy form of development and entertainment.
The pre Father’s Day event is expected to draw all of the country’s top golfers and enthusiasm is electric as golfers eagerly look forward to contest keenly in this grand El Dorado tournament.
All kinds of positive innovations are on board this year. El Dorado will give free sampling of Gin and 15-year old Rum, as well as they will host a Happy Hour from 5-6 p.m. with 15-year old drink specials.
Also, part of this year’s sponsorship award will go towards insurance for female golfers, particularly targeting young players (especially females) in developing a passion for the Sport. In addition in a raffle for players and the public, El Dorado will give away hampers.
A free ticket can be obtained from El Dorado, DDL Stores, any Lusignan Golf Club member or at the Food Town Restaurant in Enmore for your chance to win one of several hampers of DDL products.
An e-ticket can also be obtained from the Lusignan Golf Club facebook page, or from any Club Member with a whatsapp contact, is adequate to give you the coupon which after you fill out, you place in a box for the raffle.
Contestants from the Miss World Guyana 2018 competition will be on hand to join in the celebrations as they return to the scene where their Sports & Fitness segment was held. Recently opened Food Town restaurant in Enmore will also be providing free samples of food and pastries during the Happy Hour celebration.
The tournament is drawing some of Guyana’s finest, as both the reigning Guyana Open Male and Female champions, Avinash Persaud and Christine Sukhram, respectively, have registered to participate in this prestigious tournament.
