Rising Stars and Reliance Hustlers booked their passage to the quarter finals of the South Essequibo Cricket Committee Invitational T20 tournament following the latest round of action which concluded last weekend.
Rising Stars defeated Cotton Field Sports Club by 57 runs by the Duckworth Lewis method at Imam Bacchus ground. In a match that was reduced to 16 overs due to rain, Rising Stars managed 144-5 after they were inserted on a decent pitch. Kemol Savory struck two fours and three sixes in a top score of 40, while Quentin Samson made 32 not out with two fours and three sixes and Imran Khan 23 including two fours and one maximum. Bowling for Cotton Field SC R. Rajkumar, R. Kissoon and P. Persaud had one wicket each. In reply, Cotton Field were 18-6 from 5.5 overs when rain intervened.
Samson had so far taken 3-8 from 2.5 overs and Imran Khan 2-10 from three overs.
Meanwhile, Reliance Hustlers got a walkover from Reliance Sports Club. The other quarter final spots will be decided on Sunday at Imam Bacchus Ground when Young achievers take on Jaguars Sports Club at 10:30hrs and Sparwin play Bush Lot Trendsetters at 14:00hrs. Rising Stars and Reliance Huslters have now joined Imam Bacchus Sports Club, New Opportunity Corps SC and Walton Hall Sports Club in the last eight.
