On Saturday last Young Footballers from the East Ruimveldt Community got much needed competition when the Final of the East Ruimveldt Inter Block 5-a-side small goal competition was staged at the East Ruimveldt Community Centre ground.
The tournament was sponsored by the Guyana HEMP Industries and Verman Bedessee CEO of Bedessee Imports Inc of the USA and launched on Saturday June 2 by Bedessee during a visit to Guyana to participate in the just concluded HEPM Awareness Week which was held under the theme ‘Removing the Barriers –Don’t block Industrial HEPM.
During the launch Bedessee Pledged his full support to the development of youth Football in Guyana and promised a donation of Football gear and equipment along with educational Materials.
The final was watched by a vocal crowd of supporters who saw entertaining Football as Eastville defeated East Ballers 2-1 in the U-15 Final with Anton Vasconcellas and Brian Burette scoring for the winners. Casion Warren scored the consolation goal for the Ballers.
In the U-17 Final, La Warriors defeated Texas Warriors 2-nil as Shemar King netted a brace, while Syrus Johnson scored the winning goal as West Side Ballers beat Golden Star 1-nil in the U-13 Final.
During the presentation Chairman of the Georgetown Single Women HEMP Association, Timbi Hendricks, urged the youths to be always disciplined, respectful and committed to their sport and Education.
The competition was conducted by Coaches Lloyd Smith and Danella Barrow.
