A wide cross-section of Guyanese and Sol staff turned out early yesterday morning to participate in Sol Guyana’s clean-up of the beach along the Kingston Seawall.
The activity was in observation of World Oceans Day which was observed on Friday. General Manager of Sol Guyana Incorporated, Liz Wyatt, said she has always been passionate about the ocean.
“As a company, we’re always concerned about the environment. Help save the environment is part of the foundation of our business so we thought we’d come out and make it greener,” Wyatt said.
Wyatt commended the government’s efforts to eradicate the use of plastic. “I think it’s fantastic,” she said.
Plastic shopping bags and other single-use plastics are to be phased out starting in three years as part of Guyana’s commitment to a greener planet.
