Imam Bacchus Sports Club, New Opportunity Corps Sports Club and Walton Hall Sports Club have made it through to the quarter finals of the South Essequibo Cricket Committee Invitational T20 tournament.
At Imam Bacchus ground recently, Imam Bacchus Sports defeated Imam Bacchus Eagles by 20 runs in a game reduced to 13 overs due to rain. Winning the toss and batting, Imam Bacchus SC made 102-6 in 13 overs. Parmesh Parsotam and Wayne Osbourne struck 23 each with the former hitting one four and the latter one four and two sixes while Neilan Cagodan made 17 not out. Bowling for Imam Bacchus Eagles Davindra Narine claimed 3-13. Imam Bacchus Eagles were restricted to 82-6 in reply with Parmanand Motilall scoring 28 (1×4); Khulraj Persaud grabbed 4-16.
At the said venue, NOC SC beat Gunners by six wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, Gunners were bowled out for 74-7 in 13 overs. Sheldon Charles scored 29 with four fours and A. Boodram 10; Joel Fortune bagged 4-15. NOC SC responded with 75-4 in 11 overs. Kevon Boodie slammed one four and two sixes in a top score of 31 while Sheldon Alexander made 26 (1×4 2×6). Bowling for Gunners Hemant Beharry claimed 2-15.
At Charity, Walton Hall SC overcame Pomeroon Oil Mill by 50 runs. Walton Hall SC took first turn at the crease after winning the toss and managed 92-9 in 15 overs. Suresh Persaud scored 26 Vishwanauth Lall 21; Gilbert France snared 4-9 while there were two wickets each for Gregory Banjamin and Roland Kanhai. Pomeroon Oil Mill were sent packing for 42 in 12.5 overs in response. Uvindra Balgobin claimed 3-10 while Dharamdeo Lall, V. Lall and L. Singh captured two wickets each.
The other quarterfinal spots will be decided on Sunday when Cotton Field SC battle Rising Stars at Cotton Field (10:30hrs), Reliance Hustlers face Reliance Sports Club at Reliance (10:30hrs), Young Achievers tackle Jaguars SC at Imam Bacchus SC (10:00hrs) and Bush Lot Trensetters play Sparwin (14:00hrs) at the said venue.
