After participating in the Pan American games he decided to travel to the United States and compete in as many races as possible to gain more experience and improve his skills.
During the Memorial Day weekend cycling events in the USA, the Guyanese cyclists suffered mixed fortunes, in the USA (Tour of Sommerville) events. Success came in the lower and master’s category with Romello Crawford winning the Category 3, 4 Event on Saturday. Crawford who hails from Fyrish Cortland area on the Corentyne, Berbice returned to place 3rd in the category 2 / 3 Race at Sommerville on Sunday.
