23-year-old Romeo Fredricks is presently in a coma at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation after being involved in an accident at Kwakwani.
Fredricks, who is a logger by profession, was involved in an accident on May 1st last, where it is said that he was riding a motorcycle, without documentation on a main thoroughfare in Kwakwani, when he collided with a pickup.
Ronnie Fredricks, the mother of the young man, reached out to this publication to have her plight highlighted, since she feels that justice is not being served, in her son’s matter.
Mrs. Fredricks said her son had been the breadwinner for the house for some two years – ever since her husband got into a work-related accident and was confined to a wheelchair.
Mrs. Fredricks lamented the fact that a few weeks ago, her son was held and charged in relation to traffic offences, to which she paid a fine of $50,000 dollars for him, only to have the police give him back the bike, which she had intended to sell, after realizing that it would bring problems, since the motorcycle “did not have papers”.
Mrs. Fredricks claims she doesn’t understand why the police have not charge the driver, since a month has already passed.
This publication has reached out to the relevant authorities, for an explanation, and was informed that in cases like this one, there is a need for statements from all parties involved, to make the necessary charges, and since Romeo Fredricks is still in an unconscious state, it has stalled the process to some extent.
