Yesterday at the DSL Store in Ruimveldt, President of the Lusignan Golf Club Aleem Hussain collected a cheque from DDL’s El Dorado Brands Manager, Maria Munroe, for the staging of the inaugural El Dorado Golf Tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club on June 16.
Munroe told the two Journalists present that the Demerara Distillers Limited and their El Dorado Rums Brand was pleased to partner with the Lusignan Golf Club to host the 2018 El Dorado Rums Golf Tournament.
“Golf in Guyana has been supported by El Dorado Rums and in 2018 it’s on our calendar of Events as one of the main events. This partnership promises to be a very important one, since local players across the Country will have the opportunity to showcase their talent in a very competitive competition,” Munroe informed.
The Brand Manager said El Dorado Rums has always been a big contributor towards Sports in Guyana and is committed to the development and promotion of Sports as a healthy form of entertainment.
“The prestigious tournament will see both Male and Female players compete at a very high level over the course of a day to become the El Dorado Champion. We are excited to witness some really great sportsmanship from the players and excellent execution from the organizers of the Lusignan Golf Committee,” Munroe continued.
Munroe stated that DDL will continue to support Sports in Guyana and wished the LGC and players a competitive and successful tournament.
Hussain said while this is an inaugural tournament, DDL has been supporting Golf for over 20 years.
He added that not only the players but also fans will receive prizes, while informing all the different El Dorado Brands will be only display during the tournament.
A women’s development policy is also in place to help develop female talent which could lead to Golf scholarships. (Sean Devers)
