‘Deportee’ jailed, fined $2M in major New Amsterdam drug bust

One of three men who were nabbed during a police sting operation and a high speed chase through the streets of New Amsterdam has been jailed for 12 months and fined $2M. The other two individuals have been freed.
Thirty-six year-old Dillion Harry called ‘Deportee’, of Lot 59 Stanleytown, appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court, and was found guilty of trafficking in narcotics.
Failing to pay the fine, Harry will have to serve an additional 18 months in jail.
The case for the prosecution was that on Monday 17 June 2017, police, acting on information, went to Tucber Park, where they saw a Nissan ‘Bluebird’ motor car parked in the vicinity of Winkle Road and Tucber Park, where two men were seated inside. A search was carried out on the men and vehicle, but nothing was found.
About the same time, a white Toyota IST motorcar, PLL 6046, accelerated and drove past. The cops recognized Dillon Harry as the driver. He subsequently threw a multi-coloured bag out of the vehicle as it sped along.
The police pursued the vehicle in a lively high speed chase through the streets of New Amsterdam where it was intercepted in the vicinity of Republic Road and Essex Street.
In the meantime, the bag was retrieved and when opened, it contained nine transparent taped parcels which were labeled,’ Jamey’, Cure Joy’, and ‘NC’ respectively. The contents were weighed and tested and found to be 4.5kg of Marijuana. Harry and the two other men were subsequently granted bail in the sum of $100,000.
