DEAR EDITOR,
I felt profound sadness when I heard the news of the sudden death of a dear friend Neil Whyte, in Guyana. I have known Neil over 20 years working at various mines. Neil was well known in Guyana, especially after his 13-year stint at Omai Gold Mines Limited. Neil worked in Suriname, West Africa and Canada, where he made friends and trusted people easily.
Neil took part in charity work and was well liked. At work, Neil was considered an easy-going person, hard worker, and willing to listen to your story. Even though we disagreed from time to time on projects, we found that time after work to have a beer occasionally.
I do hope the investigation into Neil’s death will be concluded soon and the person(s) involved in this senseless killing will face maximum penalty.
My sincerest condolences are extended to the Whyte family during this period of grief and sadness. May his soul rest in peace.
Regards
Dave Ghansam
