DEAR EDITOR,
Having spent 42 years in North America, which covers my entire working life, I made the decision to return my homeland.
In all my years over there, I considered myself a Guyanese first and foremost and always exhibited the flag of Guyana on my car, in my house and on my clothing, including caps and T-shirts.
All my friends can tell you that I am the proudest Guyanese, especially during Caribana. I always walk with my Guyana flag and proudly wave it.
Therefore when I saw that wrong flag at the D’Urban Park flag raising, which is not the Golden Arrowhead, I felt very angry and disgusted to see such important people standing up and honouring that ‘thing’.
I felt very ashamed that our President and our Prime Minister be part of such a shocking act that desecrates our country. I know plenty people already agree with me and I would like President Granger and Prime Minister Nagamootoo to apologise to the nation for saluting an altered, unconstitutional flag.
Yours sincerely,
David Khublall
