Young jobseekers from Region Three yesterday benefitted from a capacity building seminar, organised by the Ministry of Social Protection’s Central Recruit and Manpower Agency (CRMA).
The workshop, which was held at the regional office instructed participants on proper resume preparation, interview techniques, work ethics, labour laws, and functions of the CRMA and the Board of Industrial Training.
Regional Executive Officer, Dennis Jaikaran in his address noted that it was necessary for job seekers to be prepared, in order to be successful at an interview.
“This workshop will take you to another level. If you look at the programme, the exercise that you will participate in, and the various presentations, will give you an opportunity to move from one upstream to another.”
Jaikaran also encouraged the participants to take advantage of the many other training opportunities being offered to them and be mindful of those activities which may negatively impact on their lives.
West Demerara Chamber of Commerce President, Haleem Khan pointed to the fact that many of his generation were not afforded the same opportunities as the youths today. “So, we want to prepare you for tomorrow’s future. It is important that we empower our youths; give them the necessary tools to succeed,” Khan said.
He also urged them to enroll in institutions such as the Leonora Technical Institute to develop the necessary skills to match the labour market.
