Mrs. Evadney Talbot who celebrated her 106th birthday on Thursday last, is being saluted as the oldest mother in Buxton.
Mrs. Talbot, of Lot 51 Company Road, Buxton, mothered five children– three boys and two girls. She has lived to see grandchildren, great-grands and great-great grandchildren.
Her three remaining offsprings, Raymond, Harvey and Hermine Talbot, have expressed nothing other than admiration for their mother and the principles she instilled in them. Hermine, the remaining daughter was not present for her mother’s birthday, since she resides overseas. Only recently, she spent December and January with her mom.
Mrs. Talbot’s recent birthday was yet another opportunity for family members to show their gratitude and appreciation for all her years of endurance against all odds. It was an endurance Mrs. Talbot had attributed in the past to God. “He has been the true purpose of my success in life, family and prolonged existence.”
Mrs. Talbot who had shared her 100th milestone with this publication, was then touted as the centenarian, who is an active member of the Buxton Golden Age Club, who thought that she would never live to see 100 years. She often wondered what it would have been like, way back then.
Now six years on, Mrs. Talbot is here. She is celebrating a milestone that many Buxtonians have expressed gratitude at being part of, since Mrs. Talbot who many call ‘Granny’ or ‘Mother’ has been nothing but an inspiration and role model to all whom she comes into contact with.
Mrs. Talbot who lives just opposite the Buxton Health Centre, receives constant care and attention from members of the Health Centre, a fact her son Raymond was very grateful for, since he too lives overseas.
Those who question Mrs. Talbot secret to longevity, were told,” God had richly blessed me and had obviously had a purpose for me being here for so long.”
She did reveal that she never liked sitting down and that keeping up to speed was probably the main thing. She said she often went to bed late and would rise early in the morning. Mrs. Talbot in the past claimed that it could not be food because ate everything.
The family and friends of Mrs. Talbot and the residents of Buxton would like to wish her a, “Happy Mother’s Day!” They congratulate her on her 106th Birthday, which they all consider to be something that attests to the endurance of Buxtonians.
