Ambassador of the European Union to Guyana, Jernej Videtič on Monday, hosted an inaugural breakfast meeting at his residence which saw the attendance of representatives from businesses in Guyana with European ties and parentage.
A number of the businesses represented ranged from those operating in telecommunications, oil and gas, consultancy, agriculture and pesticides, tourism and horticulture.
The first meeting of its kind saw an agreement being reached between Ambassador Videtič and the business representatives to engage in regular follow ups with the primary goal being to promote Guyanese–European business relations and improve exchange of information between European companies operating in Guyana.
Some of the discussions centered around the present status and the promising future of the tourism sector in the country, the key role of the private sector in the economic development, and the importance of establishing synergies with the public sector to promote public private partnerships.
