The Final of the third annual Hand-in-Hand 50-overs U-19 Inter-County cricket tournament, originally set for Saturday and was postponed to the reserve day (Sunday) were both washed out without a ball being bowled after rain left the Lusignan ground waterlogged.
The GCB has now set Friday as the new date for the twice postponed final which will now be played at the Providence Stadium from 09:30hrs which has much better facilities and drainage system.
Rain should not be a major concern since the Stadium is one of the fastest drying International venues if it rains and stops then at least a 20 overs contest should be guaranteed.
Three-day Champions Berbice were set to oppose last year’s 50 overs finalists the National U-17’s in Friday’s final. The U-17s finished second in the preliminary rounds, while Berbice won all three of their games to finish on top.
This tournament is being used to select the National youth team which will participate in the 2018 Regional 50-over U-19 Tournament which will be contested in Barbados from July.
