DEAR EDITOR,
I respond to Freddie Kissoon’s April 27, 2018 column entitled “Was the seawall roundabout necessary?” in which he expressed concern about having a roundabout and traffic light at the junction of Carifesta Avenue and Vlissengen Road.
I admit that initially, I too thought that having the traffic light alone was efficient in its intended purpose and that no change was needed. However, if a secondary intent of the roundabout is to beautify that intersection, I would applaud it over and over again.
At a time when Guyana is undergoing ‘concretisation’, having more trees, flowering plants, and other forms of beautification will certainly enhance the aesthetics of the once renowned “Garden City.”
I commend those agencies involved in the beautification of Georgetown and hope that their efforts are sustained and are extended to other parts of the country.
Best wishes
Donna Morrison
