Investigators and relatives are making stringent efforts to locate a New Amsterdam Secondary School teacher and one of his former students who went missing on Tuesday.
Their sudden disappearance has come about after a video, with the two in a compromising position was leaked to the teachers wife, and the teen’s parents.
The teacher’s wife who is pregnant, and the teen’s relatives are shocked at the revelation and a missing person report has since been made at the Central Police Station in New Amsterdam.
Reports are that the teacher who teaches Physical Education and Social Studies and the girl who wrote her Caribbean Secondary Education (CESEC) Examinations last year were into a relationship for some time.
However the relationship was kept a secret until the revelations in the leaked video.
The teacher, it is reported, would visit the teenager’s home on a regular basis under the pretext of borrowing the girl laptop computer.
Her parents not being the wiser thought nothing of it since it was believed that the visit was a regular teacher pupil relationship.
Reports are that the 17-year-old who was a former student of the Berbice Educational Institute, had attempted to flee her home at Fort Ordnance Housing Scheme, on Sunday, but her efforts were thwarted. However she escaped during Monday evening even after her parents took away her computer and cell phone.
Relatives are worried since it was confided in a relative that the teacher had encouraged the teen to elope and commit harm since it would bring shame.
The police are investigating.
