The second annual Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Development Association (BCCDA) cycle race in observation of Arrival Day will be held on Saturday 5th May (Arrival Day) in New Amsterdam, Berbice.
The event which will be organised by the Trojan PSL Cycling Club will be open to cyclists across the country.
The cyclists are expected to pedal off from main and Chapel Street at 14:30hrs and proceed around the town of New Amsterdam to cover 60 miles. The amount of laps will be released shortly.
Cash and trophies will be up for grabs with prizes being awarded to the first six finishers in the Open category, the first three veterans, the first four juniors, the first three juveniles and top females. There will also be a number of prime point prizes on offer.
The Indian High Commissioner or a representative from the Indian High Commission is expected to be on hand, while Regional Chairman of Region 6, the Mayor of New Amsterdam and other dignitaries are expected to be on hand.
President of the BCCDA Ryan Alexander stated that the activity is being held to commemorate the day and part of the BCCDA’s effort of giving back to the community.
