When he is not riding or supervising his business entity at Lot 220 Courtland, Corentyne, Berbice, former national cycling champion Wilbert Benjamin is busy assisting others in whatever way he could.
The former Champ, who resides and rides in both Guyana and Canada where he also conducts business, finds the time to lend a helping hand on a regular basis.
Benjamin latest act of benevolence was extended to the Guyana Police Force.
On Wednesday Benjamin visited the office of Commander of the Police B Division, Assistant Commissioner Lyndon Alves in New Amsterdam and handed over two T Shirts and 20 membership cards to the Assistant Commissioner.
While the T Shirts is for the Commander, the membership cards are to be given to ranks of the Commander’s choice for one year’s use of the Benjamin Fitness Gym free of cost.
This is the second time Benjamin is extending free membership to members of the GPF. Under Commander Amsterdam membership was given to senior ranks of the Division.
According to Benjamin he decided to continue his association with the police because they needed to stay fit and in shape and at the same time he’s giving them the privilege of using the state of the art facility. It is also his way of continuing to giving back to the community. He noted that the police play an integral role in daily life and assisting them in whatever way possible brings satisfaction to him.
Benjamin is hoping that the police will make full use of the opportunity given.
Commander Alves was very appreciative in giving thanks to Benjamin for his kind hearted gesture and is happy to be on board with such a noble entity as the Benjamin Fitness Gym. He promised that he and his ranks will make full use of the opportunity given and is willing and ready to be of assistance in any way possible.
The multimillion dollars Fitness Gym has over 400 members and is open on a daily basis. It is situated on the upper flat of the two story building which also houses the Benjamin Cycling and Sports Store and Car Wash.
The gym is well equipped with all the modern training and exercise equipment. It is also equipped with bath and changing rooms.
Regular members are given a free gym jersey, towel and gym gloves, yoga mat and step counter.
October 1st turn off your lights to bring about a change!
