Once again, Mohamed’s Enterprise has thrown its support behind motor racing locally, this time being one of the major sponsors for this Sunday’s ‘King of the Strip’ (KOTS) 2 that will speed off at the South Dakota Circuit, Timehri.
Also signing on to the premier drag race meet organised by the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMRSC) are JAPARTS and the two entities will now join Tropical Shipping and Ansa Mcal as the event’s sponsors.
GMRSC’s vice-president Hansraj Singh signaled the companies’ usual willingness to support motor-sports locally. “Mohamed’s Enterprise and Japarts are two companies that are always ready to rally behind racing. They usually help in whatever way they can and this time around, it’s a big effort from both of them.”
“Their support will go directly into plans for Sunday’s event, some of which will feature enhanced track preparation for the faster cars that are coming.”
Last week it was noted that a packed lineup of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) competitors will invade Guyana for the KOTS 2 drag race meet comprising of a team of five cars and two bikes and those machines have been confirmed as arrived on the local shores.
T&T’s Rohan Deosaran’s rail car, which can fly across the drag strip in sub 10-second times easily, has been confirmed as part of the shipment which arrived last weekend and vehicles should be released from the wharf today, Hansraj confirmed.
Along with the rail car; are the ‘Tweety Too’ Nissan Laurel of Jeremy Rooks, the R32 Nissan Skyline of Jagdeo Seecharan aka Mad Cow and the All-Out Performance team’s machine.

Meanwhile, the GMR&SC President, Rameez Mohamed, contended that this is what the club has been working on from the beginning of this year, getting international competition. He noted that, “Earlier this year, I went to a drag meet in Trinidad to try and solicit competition for our local guys to foster a better drag meet and also put on a better show for Guyanese,” and that move has now resulted in several Trinidadian competitors.
In addition to the local and T&T dragsters, Sunday’s meet will also feature a host of competitors from neighbouring Suriname who were present for the first KOTS.
Admission to the event is $1,000 for adults and $500 per child.
