Muneshwers’ Robert Hanoman (centre left) hands over the sponsorship cheque to LGC’s PRO Guy Griffith yesterday morning in the presence of the travel agency’s staff at their office.
The oldest and largest travel agency in Guyana, Muneshwers, has signed on for the tenth year to support the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) and development of the sport locally. Yesterday morning at the agency’s Water Street location, Director Robert Hanoman presented to the LGC’s Public Relations Officer, Guy Griffith, the sponsorship cheque of an undisclosed sum for this Saturday’s Muneshwers Travel Agency Golf Tournament at the LGC.
Hanoman posited that, “We (Muneshwers) started to support (Golf) because we believe the sport will continue to grow from strength to strength and this year we will see it expand in leaps and bounds. The place (LGC) has transformed and it looks as comfortable as any good golf club in America.”
Hanoman further noted that golf has the potential to be one of the biggest sports in the nation, “It’s one of the few sports that you can play yourself and it’s suitable for older people as well.”
Griffith noted that tee off time will be this Saturday at the club from 12:30hrs and a total of around 50 entrants in both male and female categories are expected to compete for bragging rights and trophies.
