Guyana’s Ambassador ‘inundated’ with expressions of interest

Guyana’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr Riyad Insanally, told the Department of Public Information (DPI) that his office is “almost inundated by expressions of interest” in the areas of infrastructure, oil and gas and downstream industries in the oil and gas industry.
“At the moment, I’m playing the role of official facilitator. Expressions of interests are related to the government. We try to see how we can help interested parties who are reputable who we think are people who can help us navigate our system, meet the right people and do things the right way,” Ambassador Insanally said.
Guyana’s oil and gas industry was born when a world-class discovery was made by ExxonMobil and its partners in 2015. To date, there have been seven oil discoveries made in the Stabroek Block located offshore Guyana.
The Stabroek Block is now estimated to contain 3.2B recoverable barrels of oil. Guyana will pump its first oil in 2020.
The Ministry of Natural Resources is continuing to work with all relevant partners in the exploration and development of the burgeoning oil and gas sector while keeping the citizens and stakeholders of the country apprised of preparations for petroleum production and all related activities.
