Ossafo Yarde, owner of K & O car rentals, was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. The businessman was slapped with three charges of fraudulently changing the chassis number on three Toyota Premio model cars.
The first charge alleged that on March 19, 2018, Yarde fraudulently used a forged chassis number on a Toyota Premio car with intent to transact business.
The charge further read that on March 20, he fraudulently used a forged chassis number on another Toyota Premio.
Particulars of the third charge read that on March 21, last, he again fraudulently used a forged chassis number on the third Toyota Premio. Yarde denied all three of the allegations against him by the Magistrate.
The car dealer was represented by Attorney Glenn Hanoman, who stated that his client buys used cars with witnesses present and signs agreements. He is thus disputing charges made against Yarde. He further requested that bail be granted to his client.
Police Prosecutor, Simone Payne, did not object to bail being granted to the defendant. He was released on $100,000 bail on each of the three counts of fraud.
Yarde was ordered to return to court on April 30.
