Ganesh Parts and General Store became the latest sponsor of the Boyce & Jefford Relay Festival and Family Fun Day yesterday when the company handed over a sponsorship cheque to the organisation ahead of the event scheduled for Sunday at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.
Sales Manager, Suresh Rampersaud handed over the cheque and indicated that the company is pleased to be associated with an organisation that has been contributing to the development of sports and youth in Guyana for the last decade.
Ganesh Parts, the sole distributors of Bridgestone Tyres in Guyana, is a first time sponsor of the event. Other sponsors include flagship brands, Stag Beer and Heineken, I Cool Water, National Sports Commission, K&B Mining, Antarctic Maintenance and Repairs, Romano Builders, Starr Party Rentals and Jude Cycle Shop.
Here is a summary of what will happen at the Eve Leary Ground on Sunday.
Relays: 4×100 Females; 4×100 Males; 4×400 Females; 4×400 Males; 4×200 Mixed Relay; 4×400 Mixed Relay; Sprint Medley Females (100m,100m, 200m, 400m); Sprint Medley Males (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m); Distance Medley Females ( 2400metres ) (400m, 600m, 600m, 800m); Distance Medley Males (2800metres) (400m, 600m, 600m, 1200m); Distance 4X800 Male and Female Relay
Cash Prizes of $25,000; $20,000 and $15,000 will be awarded to teams finishing first to third. Total prize money of $780,000 will be handed out in the Relay Events.
Football: Five-a-side small goal football featuring eight teams. Cash Prizes: $50,000 (winner) and $25,000 (second place) + Champion and Runner-Up Trophy.
Cricket: Male: Trophy Stall Masters vs. Foreign Service Association; Female: Trophy Stall Angels vs. Mike’s Wellwoman
Cash Prize: Females $50,000 (winner) and $25,000 (second place) + Champion and Runner-Up Trophy
Cycling: Devil Takes the Hinds Most (Male) and 2000m Sprint (Female) among two other races.
Cash Prizes of $25,000; $15,000 and $10,000 will be awarded to cyclists finishing first to third. Total of $200,000. Trophies will accompany incentives.
Domino: In excess of 20 teams for $250,000; $150,000 and $50,000 for first to third. MVP $10,000. Total prize money of $460,000 will be handed out in the Domino Competition.
Total Prize Monies from all events: $1,600,000.
Two Novelty events to be named for participating patrons. Kids Zone will feature bouncy castles, trampolines, face painting and many more attractions
Four lucky patrons will go home with four impressive prizes including a microwave, $20,000 cash and the largest family will win a ‘Household Hamper’ including Ariel Soap Powder, Swinger Matches, Rage Insecticide, Hefty Garbage Bags, Trin Chloro Bleach and Squeezy compliments of Ansa McAl.
Entertainment: Stereo Sonic, Selector Face and DJ Winston (Linden), Guest Boys, Stitchie One Man Band.
Entrance Fee: Adults $500 and Children $200.
