President’s Guard emerged champions of the Commissioner of Police (COP) Inter Department/ Division T20 tournament after defeating Headquarters by 48 runs in the final which was contested on Saturday at Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Nigel Hopie presents the winning trophy to President’s Guard skipper Kester Harcourt in the presence of his team mates.
President’s Guard batted first and managed 151-9 with Kestor Harcourt scoring 34, Nicoli Reddy 31, Kevin Allicock 17 and Kwame Naughton 14. Stephen Harris captured 3-23, Troy Benn 2-20 and Kevon Boodie 2-31.
Headquarters responded with 103 all out in 19.4 overs. Dwayne Dodson made 29, Harris 27 and Boodie 22; Pernell London claimed 3-14 and Paul Tyndell 2-26.
Harcourt was named man-of-the-match and was also rewarded for taking the best catch and scoring the most runs in the final.
In the third place play off, G Division went down to F Division by seven wickets. Batting first, G Division scored 113 all out in 15 overs.
Leon David made 23 and Shakel Vyphius got 21; Vishal Jaigobin snared 3-31, Marvin Peters 2-11 and Devon Joseph 2-26.
F Division responded with 115-3. Shiveshwar Sankar made 37; Rawle Haynes 34 and Lennox Andrews 18 not out. Clain Dhanraj had 2-26. Jaigobin was named man-of-the-match.
