All roads will lead to the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue tonight for the final of the Corona Futsal tournament which will be competed between Sparta Boss and Bent Street for the grand cash prize of $600,000.
This will be a replay of the last futsal final played at the Gymnasium that Bent Street won, and Sparta Boss, which is the most successful small goal team in Guyana of recent, will be looking to regain their dominance as they did when they defeated Bent Street in the inaugural edition of this tournament that is coordinated by Petra Organisation.
In the lead up to the final, Bent Street have been engaged in some exciting matches and their semifinal win against Leopold Street was once again one of the better games in the tournament which they clinched 6-5 in extra time.
Meanwhile, Sparta Boss had another nail biting victory against the star-studded Alpha Warriors side which the won 5-4. The game was very energetic and Sparta managed to hold on by their fingertips to win the very keenly contested matchup.
These two teams, who are hands down the best in local futsal arena, will serve up a mouth watering contest through their ‘never give up’ mentality for the excitement hungry fans tonight. Much more than the $600,000 first prize will be decided as the fans and players themselves look to settle once and for all which of the two sides is better.
Before the final there will three exhibition matches to warm up the crowd before the third place playoff at 22:00hrs followed by the final which will kick off at 23:00hrs.
In addition to the winners of the tournament, which is sponsored by Top Brandz through their Corona Beer brand, Namilco and Rose Ramdehol Auto Sales, pocketing $600,000, the runners-up will receive a handsome $300,000, while the third place team will cash in on $150,000. The most valuable player (MVP) will receive a Hero 150cc motorcycle, compliments of Rose Ramdehol.
