A woman died and several persons were injured following a minibus accident yesterday at Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara.
The driver of the minibus has since been identified as a police rank stationed at the Sparendaam Station. According to the reports, shortly after 5 p.m. the driver lost control of a route 42 minibus which overturned.
Several of the injured passengers, including at least two children, were rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for immediate treatment.
An elderly man, who is listed as critical, was among the passengers subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The driver of the bus escaped with minor injuries.
