Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell has been a Sports Organiser for almost four decades and tomorrow he celebrates his 72nd birth Anniversary. The veteran Barnwell is being honored by the South Turkeyen Sports Committee (STCS) and Queens College Sports (QCSC) when they host a ‘Birthday Sports Programme’ at the National Park ‘Rugby Field’. Admission is free.
The day’s activities, which comprises of Tapeball Cricket and Small-Goal Football competitions are scheduled to commence at 09:30hrs and is being organised by Barnwell. Carded for the day is an Eight-Over Tapeball cricket competition with Students from 1-A playing 1-D (Boys) and I-B opposing I-C (Girls).
In the other game 2-B come up against 2-C (Boys) while 2-B face-off with 2-C (Girls). In the four-a-side Football 1-A play 1-D (Boys), 1-C battle 1-D (Boys) while in the Girls matches, 1-A take on 1-B and I-C plays 1-D.
The Organisers are hoping for a large turnout and parents are encouraged to come out to the event which is supported by the National Sports Commission (trophies and medals), Henry Chase and The Trophy Stall of Bourda Market.
