Bounty paper towel, distributed by Ansa McAl, has joined the list of hockey sponsors for 2018 as the year’s Second Division competition bully-off at Saints ground this weekend.
The Bounty Paper Towel Second Division leagues will feature both male and female competitions and will expose the junior talents of the game alongside those whose best hockey may be behind them.
Powerhouse ladies side Pizza Hut GCC, returns this year to defend their 2017 second division title in the ladies competition. Despite having several players debarred from second division, the club showed its depth by showcasing many outstanding junior players. On show once again this year and likely to make an impact are defender Dacia Woodroffe, midfielder Carina Moller and striker Sandy Roopnarine. The ever-improving Saints ladies are sure to offer a strong challenge this year led by Tikesha Deleon and Rene James. Old Fort’s Candacey Glen and Tamala Glenn along with the Hikers Kenisha Wills spearhead
their team’s efforts, while newcomers the Bingo Spartans round off the ladies entrants.
The men’s competition saw a veterans GCC side take the trophy in 2017 and the champion GCC Sequel, led by Dwayne Scott, is back again to test the up and coming stars of the game. Bounty GCC posed the toughest challenge last year with junior nationals Kareem McKenzie and Meshach
Sargeant controlling the midfield. This year the Hikers Cadets are likely to make a stronger run at the title with the improved Garnett brothers Tivesard and Shomere adding to the experience of team-leader Colonel ‘Scooby Doo’ Heywood.
Talented junior national Omar Hopkinson and defensive dynamo Stephan King will represent the old Fort challenge this year while Saints enters two teams in Yonnick Peters’ Senior Saints and the Saints Splinters.
Matches start today from 15:00hrs at Saint Stanislaus College Ground and will run every Saturday and Sunday until May 20th.
