As the BV/Triumph 8th of May Movement Celebration activities commenced on Sunday last, the senior soccer from the village, engaged in competitive action at the BV Community Centre ground, East Coast of Demerara. The two feature matches, which were played under lights, Triumph defeated Central and Sideline and Backdam playing to 1-1 draw.
In the first match, Triumph Trumped Central 2-0, as Central found the bowels of Devon Williams, too free to contain as he smashed two convincing goals to leave Central in a seemingly stage of bewilderment which were scored in the 9th and 15th minutes.
Triumph on the other Hand remained composed in ensuring that Central was not given amble opportunity to redeem themselves, with their defenders showing grit and determination in keeping out likely goals and with their forwards placing tremendous pressure on the central defence.
In the other match of the night which began at 08:45hrs, Sideline and Backdam fought unrelentingly over 90 minutes to bring an extremely competitive match to an end, with the goals leveled 1-1.
