Led by Commander, Assistant Commissioner Lyndon Alves and Second in Command, Superintendent Wayne De Hearte the police in B Division are integrally involved in sports and community development.
Over the years the cops have shown that they are not only about fighting and prosecuting wrong doers, but are employing different strategies to get members in the community to be better citizens.
The Division has over the years established a number of youth and sports groups that are being attended by hundreds of youths. They are also making sure that there are adequate facilities available to be used by the youths and members of the wider community for their benefit.
Recently ranks of the Reliance Police Station led by Inspector Michael Newland led a massive cleanup exercise in the Gangaram area.
With the cricket season taking off in Berbice the Gangaram ball field and school compound were in bad shape.
Newland, a hard hitting middle order batsman and opening bowler, led his troupe in getting the ground and villagers ready for the cricket action and Easter activities.
Members of the village came out in support and were loud in praise for Inspector Newland and his team. They also took the opportunity to express their sentiments to Commander Alves and second in command De Hearte.
