The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS 28th Annual Award Ceremony scheduled for the 29th April, 2018 promises to be the biggest ever in the history of Guyana’s most dynamic sport organisation. A total of 60 Club Members, Teachers, Students, Retired Teachers and Law Enforcement Officers would be honoured at the event which would be held at the St. Francis Community Developers Training Centre from 13.00 hours.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster, Vice President Mark Papannah and Assistant Secretary Simon Naidu are spearheading preparation for the prestigious event, President David Granger, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS Patron has been invited to be the Guest Speaker. Foster, the long serving Secretary/CEO has disclosed that preparations are well in advance and on Wednesday last the organisers received donations from several donors.
Those making contributions were the Office of the Prime Minister, Farfan & Mendes Ltd, Bakewell, Andrew’s Art, Guyana Water Inc, Sterling Products Ltd, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Starr Computer. The Office of the Prime Minister, Farfan & Mendes Ltd, Andrew’s Art, Guyana Water Inc, Sterling Products Ltd, Bakewell donated a combined $400,000 worth of trophies, medals and framed certificates, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs donated a trophy. Starr Computer, a long time sponsor of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, donated a Cellphone for the Cricketer of the Year Award.
Additionally, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club also received financial contributions from Farfan & Mendes Ltd, Bakewell and the National Milling Company towards the publication of its 2018 Youth Review Magazine.
Among the 40 Awards that would be shared out are Under-15 Player of the Year, Under-19 Player of the Year, Female Cricketer of the Year, Fielder of the Year, Most Discipline Player, Most Promising Player and Cricketer of the Year. The Awards Committee has shortlisted National Youth Players Kelvin Sinclair, Kevlon Anderson for the prestigious Cricketer of the Year Award which carries a prize package of $350,000. Other Awardees expected to be honoured are Clinton Pestano, Shemaine Campbelle, Erva Giddings, Junior Sinclair, Keith Simpson, Jonathan Rampersaud, Jeremy Sandia and Mahendra Gopilall.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club would like to express gratitude to Rajin Ganga of Bakewell, Onai Vasconcellos of Farfan & Mendes Ltd, the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Majeed of Starr Computers, Ramsey Ali of Sterling Products, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, Mrs. Juman of Andrew’s Art, Dr. Richard Van West Charles of Guyana Water Inc and Mr. Bert Sukhai of Namilco.
The Award Ceremony would also include donations to several groups, the Induction of Honorary Members into the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, while several outstanding Guyanese would receive the RHTYSC Highest Award “The Dolphin Award of Excellence”. The Club would also be hosting the Scotia Bank Tribute of Teachers, Tribute to Retired Teaches, Tribute to Outstanding Students and Tribute to Law Enforcement Officers during the Award Ceremony. A total of over $2.5M worth of trophies, medals, framed certificates, prizes and gifts would be shared out.
