A father and his two sons who were involved in a brutal chopping spree have been committed to stand trial in the next sitting of the Berbice High Court on charges of attempted murder.
They are RohanGirdharry 45, called Rohan and his two sons Rajesh Girdharry, called “Cox,” 24, and RohitGirdharry, 21, called “Natesh.”
They are accused of on Sunday 14th August 2016 at Mai Mai Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam of wounding Ashton Simon and Jason Wilson with intent to murder them. Rajesh Girdharry is also accused of wounding ValasMotie with intent to murder him.
They were committed by Magistrate Alex Moore in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court.
The state’s case as presented by Prosecutor Inspector Bernard Brown is that on the day in question Simon, 42, a father of five of 22 Sheet Anchor, East Canje Berbice; Wilson 27 an operator of Mai Mai Dam, Angoy’s Avenue and Motie called “Buddy,” 25, of Lot 19 Sheet Anchor, East Canje Berbice were injured by the men following an altercation at Mai Mai Dam.
The accused and Wilson lived in the said area. The police had raided the house of the accused, who accused Wilson of giving information to the police and threats were issued.
Wilson eventually relocated from the area. On the day in question the trio had returned to the area when they were pounced upon and brutally attacked.
Simon was chopped on his right side neck; his left arm was severed above the wrist while his right arm was also badly chopped. Wilson was chopped on his upper back, his chest, and left ear. Motie was chopped to his right side rib.
The men after committing the act fled the scene. They were subsequently arrested by the police who had launched a manhunt for them.
They were represented by attorney at law Charrandass Persaud. They have been placed on $300,000 bail each.
