Guyanese is strange people. Dem does do everything different from wha anybody else gun do.
Tek de case of dem Guyanese who like travel and go pun cruise when dem meet in de States.
Some of dem see de advertisement talking bout Carnival cruise lines. When dem go to de States dem pay fuh a cruise and when de time come duh dem go aboard de cruise ship, de captain does always brief de passengers. Suh de first thing he do was to announce that if anybody fall overboard, whoever deh nearby must shout, “Man overboard.” It don’t matter if de person who fall overboard is man or woman.
De Guyanese watch one another and de captain see de look. That is how he call de Waterfalls boss man and ask him wha dem Guyanese thinking?
De answer? De boss man seh, he can think about 10 things that a Guyanese would seh before he holler ‘man overboard.’
If it happen, dem have Guyanese who would seh, “Eh eh.” Somebody would seh, “Wait, is gone, he gone?”
Another Guyanese would seh, “Is just suh dry, he fall overboard?” But who can beat de man who gun seh, “I ain’t believe I see right.”
You got de one who gun seh, “I gone inside and mind me own business.” But wha bout de Guyanese who gun seh, “Dem does come pun these trip fuh spoil people good time.”
If is a Guyanese politician, he gun seh, “Is who tell he fuh go suh close.”
A woman would suck sheh teeth and seh, “He know he able.” But most of dem would seh, “He probably had problems.”
De pastor would stand up in shock, look around and seh, “Well watch stunt.”
And all this time nobody ain’t holler “Man overboard.
Talk half and don’t mek rules fuh Guyanese.
