Apprentice Neil Huston was the winner of the annual GuySuCo Training Centre six mile road race, which was held recently for apprentices and guest athletes.
A total of 48 runners participated in the event which saw Huston winning in a time of 36 minutes and 52secs. The race began at Adventure on the Corentyne concluded in front of the apprentice hostel at Port Mourant also on the Corentyne.
Trophies and medals were presented to the top ten finishers. Present at the event and seeing the athletes on their way was Manager of the GTCPM Jainarine Sookpaul and Student Affairs Officer Levi Nedd.
Speaking with the media, Coordinator Nedd said that the annual event is part of the apprentices’ extra-curricular activities at the institution.
The athletes were escorted along the journey by members of the Guyana Police Force. (Samuel Whyte)
