Proprietor of R & D Construction and Machinery Rentals David Sugrim handed over two trophies to Region Nine Community Policing group Liaison Officer Brian Rodrigues for the staging of a T20 Cricket tournament which was scheduled to commence yesterday in Lethem.
The tournament has been organised by the F2 Division Community Policing group and involves Policing Group teams and the Annai Club as a part of Region 9 CPG 41ST Anniversary celebrations.
Annai, North Rupununi, Toka Village CPG, Annai Club, Potarinau Village CPG and Shulinab CPG will be facing off for top honours. According to Rodrigues, the CPG will provide gear for each of the teams except Annai which does not have a Policing group.
Rodrigues also noted that there are no cricket pitches in Region 9 and called on the Government to assist in laying a pitch in the Hinterland Community. He is also asking the Sports Ministry to send one of its cricket Coaches to assist with the development of the game.
