The body of a man was discovered partially burnt on a fishing vessel yesterday morning by a security guard. The boat was reportedly docked at the Rosignol Fishing Complex, Region 5.
Details have since revealed that the now dead man was seen imbibing with his boat Captain on Monday night. The captain reportedly took the fisherman back to his fishing vessel sometime around 2am on Tuesday. Shortly after, a security guard attached to the Fishing Complex noticed flames emitting from the boat.
Rakdoom Daljit told police that upon closer inspection he noticed a stove was on fire, the flames had caught on to a section of the boat already. He stated that he immediately made efforts to douse the flames when he discovered the body of the fisherman.The badly burnt man was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is currently at Anthony Funeral Parlour awaiting a post mortem examination.
