The defending champions Christianburg Wismar Secondary and Linden Foundation stopped their opponents 3-1 to begin their campaign in this year’s Edward Screw Richmond 10th Memorial Linden Secondary Schools Under-18 football preliminary round play against Harmony Secondary and the Private Schools Combined respectively last Friday at the Wisburg Secondary ground.
Playing against Harmony Secondary, the champions were led by a double from Michael Adams who netted in the 65th and 71st minutes after taking the advantage in the 20th minute through Andre Peters.
But the Harmony Secondary responded with a goal to tie things up through Bryan Culpepper in the 29th minute before the double from Adams put things beyond them.
Then Linden Foundation Secondary made light work of Private Schools Combined with a 3-1 victory engineered by two goals off the boot of Shawn Jackson, which came in the 23rd and 46thminutes of play and was further increased with another from Jamal Peters in the 54th minute for a 3-0 score line.
The Private Schools Combined, however, did pull back one goal when Javonte Lewis found the back of the net in the 65th minute as the game finally ended 3-1 in favour of the Linden Foundation Secondary boys.
