A 12-goal performance was the collective efforts of the six teams that battled it out on Saturday last at the Golden Grove Ground when the East Demerara Football Association leg of the GFF/Pele Alumini Frank Watson U15 Intra Association League continued.
The only team that did not add to that goal count was Mahaica Determinators who were blanked 0-3 by BV Triumph United in the featured game of the afternoon. Samuel Garnett was the hero for the BV side as he netted a brace in the 32nd and 57th minutes. Opening BV’s tally was Tyrice Dennis in the 27th minute.
Try as they did, the Mahaica lads were not able to get on the score sheets owing to some compact and collective defensive work from BV.
Buxton United enjoyed a successful day at the office when they whipped Golden Stars 4-1 in the second match of the day. Exchanges were pretty even up until the 32nd minute when the deadlock was finally broken.
Colin Henriques it was who hammered home the first of what would have been a hat-trick game for him. The half time whistle sounded with Buxton United enjoying a 1-0 lead. However, on resumption, Golden Stars drew level when Emanuel Evans breached the opposition’s defence and nailed his shot past the goalkeeper.
Buxton United soon after took their game to another level as they banged in three more goals without a response from Golden Stars. Henriques scored again in the 45th and 56th minutes, while the other came off the boot of David Clarke in the 50th minute.
The day’s opening fixture saw Victoria Scorpions getting past Buxton Stars by a 3-1 margin, thanks to a brace of goals from Mark Roberts (22nd, 24th) and Jeremiah Bowman in the 50th minute. Buxton Stars got their consolation goal from Cory Thomas in the 32nd minute. Play will continue this Saturday at the same venue.
