The final two semifinals of the Milo/Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) Under-18 Schools’ football tournament were contested last evening at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on CARIFESTA Avenue.
The games played were competed between Pure Masters and Lodge Secondary in the first, while Morgan Learning Center matched skills with Annandale Secondary in the second.
Pure Masters and Annandale came out victorious with 2-0 wins.
Masters defeated Lodge Secondary 2-0 in a very lackluster showing by both teams. Erwin Garraway who netted both goals for the winning side noted that although his team’s second half performance was better that the first, the overall play wasn’t special. He expressed delight with the win but wasn’t too happy with his performance despite scoring twice and he vowed to step his game up for the semifinals since he believes he will be up against way tougher opposition.
National youth player Troni Semple netted both goals for Annandale Secondary. In the first half he opened the scoring after guiding in a header from a right-side cross in the box before sealing his team’s victory with a calmly taken penalty in the second half, against the well supported Morgan Learning Center. This proved to be the second upset of the weekend after defending Champions Chase were knocked out by Sir Leon Lessons on Saturday.
