There is mischief afoot
DEAR EDITOR,
Reference is made to the letter captioned, “I need my correct NIS pension” which was published in the Kaieteur News dated Friday, March 9, 2018.
Contrary to what was reported in the newspapers, please be advised that the pensioner, Choonmattie Seebrat, was paid an Old Age Pension based on 1472 contributions which is equivalent to a 54% rate of pension.
Note that the maximum percentage that a pensioner can be awarded is 60% and this is based on 1750 or more contributions to the Scheme.
Please be guided by the aforementioned information.
