Among the women who have championed the fight to promote women’s right and equality in the quest for progress is none other than First Lady, Ms. Sandra Granger. It is for this very reason that the Patriots – the youth arm of the People’s National Congress Reform [PNC/R] has taken timeout to recognise her efforts.
In his reflection as International Women’s Day [IWD] dawns, Chairman of the PNCR Patriots, Mr. Clayton Newman, said that “greater respect and recognition are attributed to Her Excellency Mrs. Sandra Granger…through many initiatives such as the Information Communication Technology [ICT] Project, Self-Reliance Success in Business, Elderly Project, Remedial Youth Development Programme and STEM Robotic Programme, she has championed the fight for women.”
He noted that while women should be honoured everyday for their tireless efforts, “today is the day that the Chairman, Executive and members of the PNCR Patriots join the rest of the world to pause and acknowledge that women are important to the psychosocial fabric that shape families, societies and nations.”
According to Newman, the Patriots has embraced and accepted the notion that women are integral to the realisation of the 2018 Theme of: ‘Press for Progress’ which once implement will serve to help realise the country’s motto of ‘One People, One Nation and One Destiny.’
“The Patriots salute all women across the length and breadth of Guyana and the women of the People’s National Congress Reform; all Honorable Stalwarts, National Icons and significant women of the party, your work and efforts are commended greatly by the Patriots-PNCR on this your special day,” Newman noted.
Women, according to Newman, have the distinguished ability to not only mentor but nurture generations with cultured intelligence which reflects peace and unity that transcends race, religion and status.
“The worth of women is exhibited by their skills of transformative effects that cause the invaluable to become valuable and turn a waste future into an asset of wealth. Women your worth is radiated through your values, successful initiatives, entrepreneurial skills and ability to effectively socialise your offspring to be productive adults,” Newman asserted.
Even as he gave close attention to what he described as the “women heroes of the PNCR”, he shared how they have served, and continue to serve well.
“They have made and continue to make indelible imprints in our dear country,” said Newman as he observed how women’s prayers have over the years stood up against the worse of forces and allowed for change to be realised. “Truly it’s those prayers that are now helping us to establish stronger family units, greater moral and spiritual values and righteousness in our dear land of Guyana,” Newman noted.
