Mc Gill Sports Club (MSS) defeated Bell Vue by 17 runs at the Bell Vue ground last Sunday in a rain affected contest of the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) Salaam Brothers 50-overs U-19 Cricket competition.
In a truncated game which was reduced to a 30-over per side affair due to overnight and morning rain, the visitors batted first and were bowled out for 155 off 26 overs. The home team were then sent packing for 138 from 26 overs.
Satesh Basdeo played an array of enterprising shots in a fluent 68 which was decorated with seven boundaries including three sixes, while David Sears supported with 26 for McGill.
Romel 2-20, Ryan Seecharan 2-25 and Dev Seepersaud 2-30 shared six wickets between them for Bell Vue.
Saieed Persaud 30, Shane Persaud 29 and Ryan Seepersaud 21 offered token resistance for the hosts as Ravin Paramdeo captured 3-15. Sears returned with the ball to take 2-20, while Trevor Lawrie had 2-8 in a winning effort.
The other two matches set for Sunday were both washed out without a ball being bowled.
