The continuing efforts of the ten cricket teams and Management of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS to make positive differences in the lives of youths and the elderly last week received a major boost with donations from the Guyana Oil Company and Guyana Goldfield Inc. Guyoil donated $100,000 towards a Youth Forum for students in the Lower Corentyne area, while Guyana Goldfield Inc made a significant donation towards the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club monthly Pensioners Programme.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster and Vice President Mark Papannah and Asst Secretary Simon Naidu visited to uplift both donations and expressed gratitude to both donors. The Youth Forum would involve at least 300 youths drawn from six Secondary Schools and they would be lectured by a broad based panel of role models on a wide range of topics such as Drug Abuse, Importance of Education, Personal Discipline, Public Speaking, Suicide and Depression among others.
The main aim of the Live Forum would be to inspire youths to stay in school and fulfill their full potential.
The donation from Guyana Goldfield Inc would be used to finance the provision of snacks and refreshments for senior citizens at the Rose Hall Town Post Office. Over the last year, the ten Cricket Teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club along with its Over-35 Group have been providing snacks to hundreds of pensioners using their own funds.
The Pensioners Project was started February after several pensioners approached the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS Office to assist them with snacks. Most pensioners turn up as early as 03.00 hours to uplift their pensions which are usually paid at 11.00 hours. Club Members on a monthly basis provide a wide array of fruits, snacks, hot tea and drinks. Medical Care by a Ministry of Health team is also arranged on a Quarterly basis, while special gifts are shared for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and the Christmas Season. The donation from Guyana Goldfield Inc would now finance the programme for 2018, while allowing the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club to expand it to accommodate more pensioners. The ten cricket teams of the Club are mandated to undertake dozens of activities each year under a wide range of Sub-headings such as Sports, Education, Culture, Youth Development, Religious, Charity, Community Development and Social.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club would like to express gratitude to the Management and Staff of both Companies for their assistance, especially Marketing Manager Eric Whaul of Guyoil, Mr. Delon Braithwaite and Ayaana Jean Baptiste of Guyana Goldfield Inc.
