The King Medas Pansy Adonis (KMPA) girls will be competing this weekend, March 9th-11th, in the famous Hershey’s Youth Championship Indoor Nationals set for the Ocean Breeze Indoor Athletic Complex in Staten Island. Leading the way is Kcaysha Medas-King who is now coming back from a long inactive season because of injury and growth spur and was able to run well to win the New York Association Championship 400M a time of 101.27 and a time of 27.87 to give her second place in the 200m.
The other KMPA Athletes on show are Anissa Moore the Millrose Champion in the 400m and 800m 13-14, the younger Moore, Alana in the 200m, 55m & 55m hurdles in the 11-12, and the fast rising Kayleigh Jamieson in 1500m & 800m 11-12 category. With the 11-12 400m being a all too familiar faces like Naia Carter, Kayleigh Stargell and the destructive Kanai Bey-English, Kcaysha Medas-King will have her hands full in terms of making the finals with only the top six athletes making the cut, it will be a battle for bragging rights.
The 200m is the same except for Bey-English who will be replaced by the fast improving Ashley Fulton that have three victories over Kcaysha so far this season.
It was hoped that Guyanese athletes could use these games as preparation for the Junior Carifta Games since the field would be packed with top athletes from Across the Country. While it is noted that the expense to travel here to compete is out of the reach of most of our athletes, the Private Sector can begin to sponsor at least one athlete until better can be done. Should Kcaysha be able to run a sub 60 at this age of 11yrs and a sub 27 in the 400m & 200m respectively and once she remains healthy and committed, the 2021 Junior Carifta Games will be seeing her as well as the other KMPA girls, informed Andy Medas-King, Coach and lead organiser of the KMPA Meet.
