When the West Demerara Football Association leg of the GFF/Pele Alumini Frank Watson U15 Intra Association League continued on Saturday last at the Wales Community Centre Ground, registering wins were the Combined Team and Wales United.
The Combined Team defeated Pouderoyen FC 5-2 while Wales edged Eagles FC of Stewartville 2-1 in the feature game. Attending the matches were President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Wayne Forde, FIFA Regional Director Marlon Glean, Technical Director Ian Greenwood, GFF Second Vice President Rawlston Adams and Senior Men’s National Coach, Wayne Dover.
In an exciting encounter played before a small crowd, the Combined Team reaped success off the boot of Shawn Patterson (14, 23) and Arvin Pollard (45, 50) with a double each, Travis Fraser scored the other in the 64th minute.
Pouderoyen’s goals came courtesy of strikes from Ezekiel Goppy in the 11th minute and Trevon Connell in the 66th minute.
In the feature attraction, Wales and Eagles turned in an exciting performance and when the smoke had cleared, it was the former team that prevailed 2-1. Trevon Connell (10th) and Ezekiel Guppy (11th) were the marksmen for the winners while David Chisholm netted the consolation goal for the losers in the 70th minute.
